While staying in the Okavango Delta last April, the lodge had to send a spare vehicle along with the guide that picked us up at the airstrip… the rapidly rising water levels meant that the luggage needed to be placed up on the seats to avoid going for a swim

2016-05-29: All About the Light

It’s been a slow week for photos on my daily walks; and I had planned to spend some time photographing the hummingbirds this weekend, but yesterday slipped away from me, and today is completely miserable.  So, it was into my archive of photos to edit instead.

The following are a pretty random group of photos,the only real common element being lovely light.

2016-05-15: Hornbills

I’m out of town this weekend, and got this post ready ahead of time, as I knew I wouldn’t be back in time to do my usual “What I’ve seen this week” post.  I hope you enjoy this instead.

According to a quick Google search, there are 29 different hornbills in Southern Africa.  So far, I’ve seen 5 of them.  The variety of shapes and colours was the reason I wanted to create this post.

2016-04-21: Zebras

When going through some photos today, I took notice of the variety of landscapes that I saw zebras in during my last trip.  From scrubby desert to the vast wetlands of the Okavango Delta, everywhere they seemed to be thriving.  They really are such beautiful animals; I hope you enjoy.

2016-04-15: Feel Good Friday

I thought I’d mix it up just a bit, and post a non-elephant photo for my feel good Friday post.  This leopard definitely looks like she has had enough of the week and is ready for the weekend!

A big yawn before this leopard set off down the tree… only to thrill us with climbing another, after a brief pause in front of our vehicle. It is unbelievably amazing to be so close to such an amazing animal.
