2017-03-06: Monochrome Monday

After a few posts dedicated to my time with the gorillas, I thought I’d better get back to a bit of variety.  I hope you enjoy my choices for Monochrome Monday.

Have a great week everyone!

2016 Year in Review #4

Coming in at #4 in my year in review was the post 2016-04-19: WPC Dinnertime.  The WordPress photo blog prompt for the week was about mealtimes, and vultures feasting  on a carcass fit the bill perfectly.

After my time in Kenya, I have a different take on dinnertime to share.  We spotted a lion couple right after leaving camp on an early morning game drive, and the male decided that what was left of the wildebeest carcass was going to be his, and his alone.  He dragged the kill a good hundred metres or so before settling down again for a rest.  The female followed along behind, but didn’t try to get too close.  I’ll have more photos from this sighting to share in the future, but I hope you enjoy this one for now.

I’d been at the Selenkay Conservancy less than 30 minutes when we ended up with two lionesses and six cubs.  Quite the start to a morning!  Here on of the cubs wanders quite close to the vehicle, while looking for a shadier spot to lay.  Kenya, September 2016.  1/800 sec, f5.6, ISO 640.

2016-06-17: Feel Good Friday

These lions were amazing to spend time with while in the Sabi Sands in South Africa.  Over the course of a few days we spent time with them on two kudo kills, watched as the female chose which of her suitors she preferred (the one pictured here, of course) and even saw them mating several times.  Animal interaction in the bush is always exciting, and I learned new things which each game drive.

Thinking about spending time in the bush, and looking through my pictures, certainly helps to put me in a great mood 🙂

Here’s to a great weekend ahead!

Enjoy your Friday! 🙂
